3D illustration creates photorealistic images of conceptual projects. Meetinghouse Village was having difficulty getting approval because the town council couldn't understand the plans. Dana created a 3D rendering of the project that could be viewed from different angles. Here is a close-up view of one of the buildings. |
Later, the problem became renting apartments to people in buildings that hadn't been built yet. The solution was to create an interior 3D illustration of one of the apartments. Here is a view of the bathroom. All of the fixtures were created to match the ones actually used. A "walk-through" movie could also have been done, but it wasn't needed--all of the apartments were rented. |
Another use of 3D illustration is in product development. This client had a concept for a plastic water bottle with drops of water molded into the bottle shape. He had difficulty explaining the idea to the manufacturer, along with a transparent label of the Maine woods visible from the INSIDE back! He had Dana create the bottle and unusual label as a product 3D illustration. Dana has one of the final bottles he bought from a local store. |
